David Starck is a French composer with a versatile style, expressed in his ever-growing number of music on films, TV shows, documentaries and commercials all over the globe.

 

He started his musical career at the age of seven playing classical piano. At a young age, he has joined and won many competitions and awards, including 1st place at UFAM of Paris and 1st Prize at Leopold Bellan.

 

At the age of 20, David began his journey into jazz through CIM (Center International of Music, Paris), where he studied Jazz Harmony and Composition. He also earned a scholarship at Scola Cantorum where he studied Counterpoint.

 

In 1998, he moved to New York City to pursue his Jazz and Composition studies under mentorship with Joanne Brackeen, Michael Weiss, James Weidman, Barry Harris and Ed Simon.

 

For the past twenty years, David has been playing and recording all around the world with various ensembles and musicians, such as Flora Purim, Airto Moreira, Lew Soloff, Slyde Hyde, Joel Rosenblatt, Manolo Badrena, Adam Nussbaum, Thierry Arpino, Paul Beaudry, Andrew Gander and many more. He won Best Jazz Recording Album in the 2010 Awit Award.

In 2012, David moved back to his birthplace, Paris, and discovered his passion for writing music for film, TV and advertising. Working closely with Music Supervisors, Showrunners and Film Directors, David’s work can be heard on more than a hundred TV shows around the world such as “Better Call Saul” on Netflix, ”Walhburgers" on A&E, "Catfish" on MTV, “Vice” on HBO, ”Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry" on E! and commercials for Toyota, Unilever, Ericsson, Google Pixel to name a few.

 

In 2015, together with another French composer, Remy Chaudagne, they created “French Accent Music” as a collaboration dedicated to writing more music for TV, film, commercial spaces & advertising in France and worldwide. Their success relies on their ability to combine their individual styles to create another set of unique sounds for their clients. Their current works can be heard on some commercials for Doordash, Lay’s, Picard, Zara, Carrefour and MacDonald’s.

 

In 2019, David scored his first full feature.  "Moondance" an independent musical, by American director Cooper Flannigan.

 

David attended Rick Baitz masterclass “Scoring to Picture” at Juilliard School , New York City. He is already applying his newly acquired knowledge to his upcoming projects in 2023.
